3D Printing Initiative Cuts Lead Times for Custom Robotics Components

BizLink Robotic Solutions USA’s commitment to innovation extends beyond our core offerings to how we manufacture and deliver components to our customers. In late 2023, that commitment took a new shape when we acquired our first additive manufacturing machine — an Omni LITE industrial 3D printer.

Our initial intent was to explore ways to accelerate prototype turnaround and test new component designs. But the printer’s broader potential as an innovation engine soon became clear as we increasingly used it to print components for internal projects. Demand for printed parts quickly exceeded expectations.

It became increasingly apparent that we had only scratched the surface of 3D printing’s potential value for BizLink Robotic Solutions USA and its customers. By September 2024, we had committed to expanding our additive manufacturing capabilities and, by January 2025, had formed a dedicated 3D Printing Team and added two new CreateBot printers to our collection.

These larger format printers accommodate greater capacities and provide new features, allowing us to expand our ability to innovate and support customer projects. To date, BizLink Robotics USA’s fleet of 3D printers has achieved an 80% utilization rate in support of organizational objectives.

Proven Applications, Real Value

Our investment in additive manufacturing technology is transforming how we approach custom part production and delivering measurable benefits that translate directly to improved value for our distributor and customer partners.

It enables us, for example, to produce custom components more quickly when needed. Our 3D printing capabilities have proven particularly effective for creating components that are common across robotics applications. Parts like grommet plugs, locking pins, and end caps — traditionally sourced from external suppliers with longer lead times — can now be produced in-house with lead times measured in hours rather than weeks.

Our production support applications have seen significant benefits as well. Custom fixtures that assist with assembly processes and specialized components for our training department can be designed, tested, and implemented within the same day they’re conceived.

For our distributor and customer partners, BizLink Robotic Solutions USA’s 3D printing capabilities translate to several potential advantages, including:

  • Dramatically reduced lead times for custom components, allowing select projects to move forward without waiting for traditional manufacturing cycles
  • Iterative component designs that enable us to optimize parts for specific applications without the typical cost penalties associated with design changes
  • Elimination of minimum order quantities for components

Looking Ahead

From the start, BizLink Robotic Solutions USA’s 3D printers have delivered a quick return on investment. With the strategic guidance of our 3D Printing Team, the technology is on track to save much more by the end of 2025. As we continue to identify new applications and expand our material capabilities, the benefits for our partners will only grow.
