Course Profile
This 5-day core program is designed to prepare each student with the skills necessary for operation, setup, programming and operational troubleshooting of the ABB IRC5 robot system.

- Overview and identification of the control panel, FlexPendant, robot arm and other system components
- Safe operation of robot while working in manual and automatic modes
- Understanding and correcting robot operational errors using FlexPendant error message screens
- Using the joystick and coordinate systems (Joint, World, Tool, User Frame) to jog the robot
- Adjusting jogging and program execution settings using the QuickSet menu
- Understanding and following program flow using subroutines and common robot program commands
- Executing and stepping through routines for recovery, editing, and path verification
- Interpreting SafeMove errors and following plant protocols for recovery

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Locate, identify and operate the robot control panel and FlexPendant.
- Interpret FlexPendant messages and navigate the FlexPendant screens and menus.
- Safely move the robot with the joystick, using various coordinate systems, tool center points, and work object frames.
- Access, step and cycle through various programs and positions.
- Edit, copy, paste, and delete lines in a routine.
- Touch up existing robot positions and paths as well as edit positional data.
- Interpret and edit motion instructions (MoveJ, MoveL, MoveC, MoveAbsJ) and their related arguments.
- Insert, edit, and execute advanced motion instructions and offset arguments.
- Create, declare, and edit data types such as robtargets and number registers.
- Create, select, and call subroutines.
- Insert, edit, and execute I/O commands in a routine, including end effector control and (simulated) PLC communication.
- Create and use FlexPendant messages and the operator interface.
- Insert, edit, and execute logic instructions in robot routines.
- Create and implement various tool center points.
- Backup and restore a robot system.
- Update the robot’s revolution counters after measurement system battery failure.
