  • Prerequisites: BizLink ROC 100 and 200 - Rockwell GuardLogix Levels 1 and 2, or previous training in ControlLogix and/or GuardLogix, EtherNet/IP, and DeviceNet. Each student should already have the ability to set up a basic ControlLogix / GuardLogix project from scratch before beginning this course.

Course Profile

This 2.5-day program is designed to give participants not only a fundamental understanding of the functions and stages of variable frequency drives (VFDs), but also the tools necessary to replace, configure, and troubleshoot Rockwell’s PowerFlex 755 and ArmorStart 284 drives. This course also helps the participants to understand the various ArmorStart 280 and 281 contactor units.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Recognize and understand the use of PowerFlex 755 drives in a GuardLogix system.
  • Recognize and configure PowerFlex 755 hardware.
  • Use and understand PowerFlex 755 ports and parameters.
  • Navigate the DriveExecutive and/or RSLogix 5000 / Logix Designer software to troubleshoot the system.
  • Troubleshoot and reset PowerFlex 755 faults.
  • Configure communications to the PowerFlex 755 over EtherNet/IP and/or DeviceNet.
  • Understand and use input/output points to control the PowerFlex 755 drive.
  • Use the Human Interface Module (HIM) to troubleshoot the system and change parameter values.
  • Interpret the tags and logic over EtherNet/IP and/or DeviceNet to control the PowerFlex 755 drive.
  • Use a digital multimeter to troubleshoot the PowerFlex 755 drive.
  • Recognize and understand the use of ArmorStart 280/281 motor starters and ArmorStart 284 motor controllers in a GuardLogix system.
  • Configure ArmorStart 280/281 motor starters and ArmorStart 284 motor controllers for EtherNet/IP and/or DeviceNet communications.
  • Troubleshoot and reset ArmorStart faults.
