This 5-day core program is designed to prepare each student with the skills necessary for troubleshooting of the Fanuc R30iA/R30iB robot system.

  • Identification and functionality of robot controller components, including the Main board, Transformer, Power Supply board, Panel board, E-stop board, MCC, and Servo Amplifier
  • Troubleshooting using teach pendant messages, LED indicators, and fuse status
  • Overview and identification of robot arm components, including motors, cables, and mechanical joints
  • User file and controller image backups
  • Mastering and calibrating the robot
  • Tracing and troubleshooting various safety circuits
  • DCS interface, including communication and safety I/O
  • Principles of I/O communication and manipulation

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Connect, configure, troubleshoot, and replace internal robot communication cables between all components of the robot system.
  • Connect, configure, and troubleshoot PLC communications (DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, etc.).
  • Connect, configure, and troubleshoot end-effector and tooling I/O.
  • Create and restore user backups and controller images.
  • Install, remove, and identify the functions of components such as the Main board, Power Supply board, Panel board, E-stop board, MCC and Servo Amplifier.
  • Use the Position screen, Alarms screen, Status screens, LEDs, and indicators to troubleshoot the robot system.
  • Trace power flow and signal flow through the schematics.
  • Understand and explain the configuration of DCS Safe I/O.
