Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Identify and troubleshoot major components of the Siemens 1500 Series PLC.
- Start and navigate Siemens TIA Portal.
- Configure projects for a local Siemens 1500 Series PLC with TIA Portal Software.
- Configure Siemens 1500 Series I/O addressing with TIA Portal Software.
- Interpret scan cycle, process image tables, OBs, FCs, FBs, and DBs.
- Identify the memory areas of the PLC and how they are accessed.
- Recognize various data types, tags, and value formats.
- Save and load user programs.
- Utilize basic bit‐level instructions in TIA Portal software for program monitoring and modifications.
- Program binary operations using contacts, coils, and edge detection bit instructions.
- Program timers, counters, and moves in a PLC program.
- Recognize and employ troubleshooting tools (Search, Cross‐Reference, Goto, Watch Tables, Forcing, Monitoring, Archive and Retrieve, and Upload Station) in TIA Portal.
