FAQ cleanDP

cleanroom and dry-cleanroom applications

Engineered for the Challenges of Cleanroom Robotics

Industrial robots in contamination-sensitive production environments operate continuously under highly dynamic conditions. Every movement places mechanical stress on power and data cables, as well as hoses for air, vacuum, and other media. Their routing can influence reliability, maintenance, and contamination-sensitive production.

At the same time, manufacturers must balance contamination control, reliable robotic operation, and the flexibility to adapt automation systems as production requirements evolve.

BizLink cleanDP was developed to address these challenges with an integrated cable and media routing concept designed specifically for cleanroom and dry-cleanroom applications.

Designed Around Three Core Requirements of cleanroom and dry-cleanroom automation

Low-Particle Performance

cleanDP incorporates carefully selected low-particle materials and an optimised routing concept designed to help minimise particle emission during continuous robotic movement. The solution supports contamination-sensitive production environments where cleanliness is a key process requirement.

Reliable Cable & Media Routing

Power, data, signal and media hoses are guided within one integrated routing concept. Controlled cable movement helps reduce unnecessary mechanical stress while supporting stable robotic operation throughout repetitive multi-axis motion.

Flexible System Integration

Every robotic application is different. Robot models, end-of-arm tooling, motion profiles and required media packages vary from one installation to another.

cleanDP features a robot-agnostic, retrofit-capable and expandable design that supports integration into both new and existing robotic systems. This flexibility helps manufacturers and system integrators adapt production systems to changing manufacturing requirements.

Independently Validated by Fraunhofer IPA

Selecting cable and media routing solutions for cleanroom and dry-cleanroom automation requires confidence in both engineering and validation.

BizLink cleanDP has been independently tested by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA).

Under defined test conditions, cleanDP was evaluated during dynamic robot operation using a Stäubli TX2-90 LSCR cleanroom robot performing pick-and-place movements at 100% robot speed.

The testing demonstrated suitability for:

  • ISO Class 1 atmospheric cleanroom environments
  • ISO Class 4 dry-cleanroom environments

The results provide manufacturers and system integrators with an additional basis for evaluating cleanDP for contamination-sensitive robotic applications.

cleanDP - Frequently Asked Questions

What is BizLink cleanDP?

BizLink cleanDP is a robotic cable and media routing solution developed specifically for cleanroom and dry-cleanroom automation. It combines low-particle materials, Flexible Sleeve Technology and application-specific engineering to support reliable robotic operation in contamination-sensitive environments.

What is Flexible Sleeve Technology?

Flexible Sleeve Technology is BizLink's routing concept that guides integrated cables and media hoses while allowing natural movement throughout the robot's complete range of motion. It supports controlled cable movement and helps reduce unnecessary mechanical stress.

Which robot brands are supported?

cleanDP is based on a robot-agnostic engineering concept. The routing solution is configured according to the specific robot model, motion profile and application requirements.

Can cleanDP be retrofitted?

Depending on the robot and application, cleanDP can be engineered for integration into existing robotic systems as well as new installations.

Which cables and media can be integrated?

Depending on the application, cleanDP can integrate power cables, data cables, signal cables and media hoses within one engineered routing solution.

How does cleanDP support maintenance?

Its service-friendly design and quick-change maintenance concept simplify component replacement and improve accessibility during scheduled maintenance.

Can the routing concept be expanded?

Yes. The expandable design allows the routing concept to be adapted when cable packages or application requirements change.

Is cleanDP suitable for both cleanrooms and dry-cleanrooms?

Yes. cleanDP was developed for robotic applications in both atmospheric cleanrooms and dry-cleanroom environments.

Has cleanDP been independently tested?

Yes. BizLink cleanDP has been independently tested by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA). Under defined test conditions, it was found suitable for ISO Class 1 atmospheric cleanroom environments and ISO Class 4 dry-cleanroom environments.

How can I determine whether cleanDP is suitable for my application?

Our engineering team evaluates your robot, motion profile, robot tooling, cable package and production requirements to develop an application-specific cable and media routing solution.

Is a retraction system (e.g. similar to LSH 3) available for cleanDP sleeve applications?

No, cleanDP is not designed for a mechanical retraction system, as its components would generate additional friction and unwanted particles in the cleanroom. Furthermore, the inherent elasticity of the Flexible Sleeve is more than sufficient to neatly retract and position itself during the typical short travel distances of cobots and smaller robots. We consciously eliminate the need for a retraction system to guarantee maximum cleanroom purity with a minimal interference contour.
